Rangjung Yeshe Shenpen is a volunteer-based, non-profit organisation established to alleviate poverty and address social challenges, mainly in Nepal. Founded in 2004 by Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche and working under his direction, Shenpen focuses on helping the poor and disadvantaged gain access to healthcare facilities, education, shelter and employment opportunities and to improve the care and treatment of animals.
Based in Boudhanath, Nepal, Shenpen provides technical and financial support to trusted and respected local and international organisations that work directly with poor communities. Shenpen also helps to strengthen these organisations so that they are better able to meet their programme objectives.
Shenpen uses the skills and resources of its members and associates to identify where services are most needed and aims to benefit as many people as possible with the resources available. It also has a strict policy of keeping its overheads to a bare minimum.
Since its inception Shenpen has funded over 60 projects and is now sufficiently well established and experienced to significantly expand its funding base and activities. In this regard, Shenpen is currently in the process of seeking grants and support from several renowned organisations including the international Tech Awards programme, UNICEF and selected international non-governmental organisations (INGOs).
