Four days training of Basic Mushroom farming held on Syuchatar-Barpipal from February 7th, 2014. The training was provided by Women’s Cooperative Society and 26 local women farmers from the community based savings and loans groups were participated. The training place Syuchatar- Birpapal is approximately 6 kilometer west from Kalanki.
The main objectives of the training was to provide the detail information of mushroom farming. The training also includes sharing session of some successful mushroom farmers.
One of the story is of Sarita Lama who is 35 years old and has been member of WCS from past 4 years and has been benefited by taking loans.
She has been involved in mushroom farming from last 13 years and now she has 47 tunnels and she will sell everyday 200 kg to 600 kg of mushroom. The price of leaf mushroom on the Nepalese market is Rs. 80 to Rs. 200. She has employed about 9 people in her mushroom farm. It was very inspiring to all the trainees.

Observing yesterday’s training make me feel that our investment at Syuchatar might turn out worthy as all of them seemed to start the mushroom farming very soon and they seemed quite interested in learning new things. They were very happy about the training and they had even written a poem expressing all the details about the training.

IMG_4656 and their sincere thanks to WCS and Shenpen through their poem. It was touching. Nobody was involved in mushroom farming before. I do hope they all can implement their learning’s into action and make us and WCS proud.
