2017-2018 School Sponsorships

Shenpen Education currently manages the school sponsorships of eleven children who study from grade 2 to grade 10 at various schools here in Boudhanath. The parents of some children work at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, and others came to us from outside the monastery.

Since we began this project four students that had been sponsored through out their primary and secondary school passed their School Leaving Certificate exams (SLC). This sponsorship program, which is designed for supporting the education of day scholars studying up to Class 10, do not cover the collegial education.

 We have established clear guidelines for the sponsorship of these children, which include paying only annual and monthly tuition fees (which average between $250 – $350 a year), and pay only the full amount for the first child in one family and half for the second child in the same family. We also only sponsor day scholars who attend schools in the Kathmandu valley.

Shenpen Education wishes to extent program in order to offer more sponsorships. This year, we are looking to match with a kind and generous sponsor five of our eleven students.

Education is the most effective way to stop the vicious circle of poverty and make the world we live in better for everyone. For these reasons, Shenpen Education deeply wishes a good education for every child in Nepal. Everyday, we commit our energy to do so, but now we need your help in order to offer a better education to as much children as possible.

How Shenpen Education sponsorship program works

For each student, we provide:

• The cost of the school fees
• Regular monitoring of the school and the progress of the student
• Regular monitoring of the familial situation

For each sponsor, we provide :

• Regular updates on the students progress through the report cards and photos
• A yearly letter or a drawing from the pupil
• Updates on the situation of the family
