SARAF Foundation Donates Sleeping Bags Posted June 10, 2015 by Joseph Faria

Rangjung Yeshe Shenpen would like to take this time to extend our great appreciation to the SARAF foundation which made an extremely generous donation of 500 sleeping bags to be distributed by Shenpen to earthquake victims in need.

On June 7th, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche met with Mr. Shekhar Rana as well as Ms. Rani Bang (CFO of Taragoan Recency Hotels) and Ms. Sinead O’Reilly Henell (GM of Hyatt Regency) to express his sincere gratitude to them personally. Rinpoche was very touched by their generosity and promised that these sleeping bags would be distributed to those in need.

Loading all of the sleeping bags was quite a task, and so the monks, representatives from Shenpen, and the donors themselves all chipped in to get the bags onto the trucks to be delivered to the monastery. The sleeping bags filled up three trucks total, with just enough room for the monks to ride along as well!

These sleeping bags will be distributed by Shenpen to villagers in need. Sleeping bags are especially important to help provide insulation from the fast-approaching monsoon rains, chilly night-time temperatures in the Himalayas, and also in the long-term for withstanding the bitter cold that accompanies the autumn and winter seasons here in Nepal.

Thanks to such generosity, Rangjung Yeshe Shenpen has been able to offer relief to the victims of the recent earthquakes here in Nepal, those who are in need now more than ever.
