This year in June at the request of the In-charge (IC) of Burns Unit and with support from the Kiwanis Club, we were successful in delivering the following supplies at the Kanti Children’s Hospital Burns Unit which will benefit the twenty-two patients, their relatives, visitors and staff at the Burns Unit.

Water Purifier:  Purified water is an essential resource in all medical and hospital environments. Water is often the major component in many diverse applications. We have provided three quality water purifiers and services to the Burns Unit.

Hand Sanitizer: We all know that frequent hand washing is important to prevent the spread of infectious agents to and from those with whom we have both direct and indirect contact. Most germs that cause serious infections in healthcare, are spread by people’s actions. The ‘Hand Sanitizer’ is a great way to prevent infections. To fight infections, hospital workers can hit the hand sanitizer a hundred times or more a day. When you are a patient or a visitor you might get bad germs on your hands from the things you touch. Hand sanitizer is the preferred way to clean your hands. It kills the bad germs while the good germs quickly go back to your skin.

Pillow Cover and Bed Sheets: We provided 50 sets of Bed Sheets and Pillow Covers at the Burns Unit.  When people heard that the money had come in all the way from Switzerland, they were so excited and emotional at the same time.

The Head of the Burns Unit (Sr. Gauri) says: “It’s so wonderful to think that there are people so far away who care whether patients at the Burns Unit are able to access purified water and maintain their cleanliness for the patients in order to prevent infection. We wish to thank Remco and Joao for your hard effort to support this project, and again extend our gratitude to The Kiwanis, for providing the funding for the benefit of our patients.”

This program was made possible by friends of Shenpen from Switzerland (Remco and Joao) with the support from the Kiwanis Club.
