On Monday June 15th, Lungtok, one of the volunteer drivers for Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling, went to deliver supplies to Tingboche in Solu Khumbu. The drive was very long and arduous–they left at 5:00 AM and arrived in Bhablu at 4:00 PM, with their car breaking down twice along the way due to overheating.
Lungtok reported that up until Bhablu the road was very good, but the road up to Tingboche was quite dangerous. Due to the intense rain, the steep road had become very muddy and slippery. Lungtok was very concerned about going any further, and so they waited for some villagers to come down and meet them to take the supplies. In total, five tents and twenty tarps were given.
Lungtok also described how frightening the drive back afterward was: there was extremely thick fog and heavy rain, which meant that there was only about 20% visibility as he was driving.
